fuel filler cap

HI

We have a bit of an issue with a 1984 318i, the fuel filler cap, when unlocked just spins around and wont unwind out. Is there anyway we can get it out, so we can put some fuel in the car?

Push it down to create some resistance as you try to un do it.

last resort: drill a two mil hole through the lid and the cap, insert skinny screwdriver to lock two halves together, undo as usual, throw away cap and buy a new one :eek:
