engine changes and body size

Hi guys, I have the chance to buy a 1992 318 convertible for £1500 as a project. I was originally looking for a 325 ... are the body sizes identical etc so would it be fair easy to swap engines? it will be getting stripped anyway for respray

Also how hard is it to swap in a e36 325 engine, is that something that has been done before without too much hassle or should i stick to an older engine

Yes shell's the same so will accept any e30 engine and an e36 conversion has been well documented. It's fairly straight forward with a few bits need making or if money isn't an issue it can all be bought ready made.
