The best engine sound IMO is a cross plane V8. I have never heard any engine that beats that lovely music.
I like that slurping sound of a V8 in idle. I guess it's gonna be hard to fit such an engine into an E30. Problems with yearly inspection and shit.
I currently have an E30 318is -90. It's got an M42B18 engine which I do like. But its timing chain is bad, and it's been exactly the same for the 5-6 years I have owned the car. Not gotten any better nor worse.

I've been very nice to the car but lately I've started to gotten heavier on the right foot. And when this engine breaks, I'd like to rebuild the car with either a V8 or a straight 6 engine. But I don't know what engine to put in it. And how much trouble it's gonna be with the law. I need to get it legal on the road.
