E30 LS1 which gearbox? Length question.

Hi all, wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea if the length of the M57 5 speed box and the M50/M52 ones is the same. Is the linkage a different length?

I am building an LS1 swapped car using a PMC adapter and flywheel to run a BMW box. I was intending on using a 5 speed diesel box but have a ZF from a 328 sitting and wondered if it will be any use for mock up purposes in terms of length and linkage lining up with the hole in the tunnel?
