I fitted one when my pump became noisey, very easy to fit. I used a kit from a porsche 924/944 (same pump). It did work and the pump was nice and quiet when refitted, nice little victory for 20 quid or so and still going strong!

Interesting! Those parts only appear to be seals and gaskets, rather than any part of the pump itself.Jamesy wrote:I fitted one when my pump became noisey, very easy to fit. Any theories/ideas as to why they fixed the problem? Air being drawn in past the shaft seal?

Exactly right brian, the noise was produce by air repeatedly getting into the p/s system, once bleed it would be ok until the next time i used it where i would have to bleed it again (lock to lock).
Admittedly i chanced the pump was at fault hence replacing the seals, but it was a victory!

What causes the fluid to go grey? Is part of the pump wearing away?
