Hi All,

If you live or commute to London using your E30 BMW be prepared to pay the ULEZ fee, currently in force within the current congestion charge zone, and soon to be rolled out to include everything almost within the North and South circular (The A406).

I have put my number plate in on the VRM checker and my car is not excluded from the charge. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra- ... ecker-ulez

Please take the time to have your say on the first link provided.

Interesting reading - right up to where our learned Government task force refers to Arctic HGVs!

OMG, we are supposed to believe these people know what they are talking about!

It looks like we are OK with vehicles registered before 2006 - or am I reading it incorrectly?

Fingers crossed...

The two pollutants are PM and NOx. PM isn't applicable to spark ignition engines, so that leaves NOx.
Running an E30 on LPG reduces the NOx levels in the exhaust by the order of 80%, which should bring them well under the limits required, especially if combined with a CAT, which all late E30s already have, and all post facelift ones are capable of running.
The problem is getting this recognised in the legislation. It ideally needs someone with loads of spare money to deliberately fall foul of the law with a LPG powered vehicle, and then to challenge TFL all the way through the courts.

Petrol vehicles which are older than 2006 i.e. older than EURO 4, and diesel vehicles which are older than 2015 i.e. older than EURO 6 will incur the ULEZ charge, this charge is already in force in the Central London congestion charging zone (on top of the congestion charge).

And will be rolled out to "Mayor proposes expansion of Ultra-Low Emission Zone up to North and South circular roads for all vehicles from 25 October 2021" by which time the EURO 4 and EURO 6 criteria may be revised upwards.

Anyways take the opportunity to have you say -

Fuck sake! I live right next to the north circular and will end up paying £12.50 every time I want to go down the road in my e30 (until 2030 when my car will turn 40 and get historical status). I was hoping there would be a large residents discount. I think I'll probably end up selling and going for something even older!
