Got a nice little surprise today!!

While fitting my new front speakers I had a look at the ECU. My car has Alpina Sports Pack wrote in the owners manual and although Ive heard this can mean various upgrades to the car I didnt know if mine really had any except for the little Alpina sticker on the boot.
I was happy when I looked at the ECU today and saw Alpina stickers on it!
Does anyone know the duration of the standard cam so I can check it against the one in mine?
I'll have to go into BMW some day and find out exactly what my car had.





The car has about an inch worth of dust on it too from sitting in the garage for the last 4 months! Hopefully it wont be on there for much longer.

im not sure of the spec exactly, but im pretty sure the cams were one of alpinas downfalls; have read in places that they are not that wild?

I think I remember looking at the number on the cam when I put the first head on and thinking it was only slightly higher than the standard one compared to the Shriek cams etc. The car is still alot faster than most sports though and this would explain it!

The Alpina cams were 268/268. However thats all the info we have. there is not info on lift which is very important.

The Alpian cam was not bad at all, Quaser's engine gave 204bhp with an Alpina cam and he had a CAT! So its not bad at all and does give superb midrange torque.

I would expect your sport to be a fair bit pokier than a normal 2.5 with that cam and ECU.

The current block is scrap now thanks to the valve seat getting smashed into the piston when the last head fecked up.
Ive got a block from Dips off here with 67k miles and another recon head and I'll be putting my cam into it along with new seals and gaskets everywhere.
Fingers crossed it wont go bang this time!

If you have the funds, get the head ported while your at it.

Then add a 6 branch later + MAF conversion and it will be a very very nice power delivery.
