I recently fitted a T45 cage from Custom Cages - this one: https://www.customcages.co.uk/roll-cages/bmw-e30-m3
The only other E30 weld in cage I could find was OMP but I couldn't get any info on their quality control so went for CC. I'm told the fit was good, but two brackets needed remade.
No removable door bars on these ones.

Cool, thanks for the reply.
Was the bracket just a bad batch or is it something I would also encounter?

i had a company called tube bender cut and bend all the tubes when i built my compact and i was going to weld it in but decided to bolt it in as per blue book regulations, welding it in would have been much cheaper as all the slip tube and connections cost money. i made it as basic as possible with the addition of a harness bar. it worked out very heavy and cost around £400 for the tube and bends. i am building an e30 rally car now and i have a safety devices cage that is homologated meaning they could use thinner tubing making it much lighter. i wanted bolt in as i like to take the door bars out when i have to work on the car. There is a build video where it shows the fitting of the home built cage

Do rally cars not need weld in? I'm thinking about going bolt in now instead
bolt in or weld in are fine, the msa blue book has specifications for what is required for motorsport with diagrams and requirements https://www.msauk.org/assets/bb2018completelow-res.pdf roll cages (ROPS) start on page 156
Why are you putting a cage in your car? What will you be using the car for? Racing, track days or rally? Sounds to me like it's just for show.
If it's a cage for show - road car - I don't see the point of the cage as it will most likely cause more damage to passengers than no cage in an accident.

Assume it was a bad batch. Delivery was supposed to take 3-4 weeks but took 7 so by the time we realised they'd sent the wrong stuff I couldn't be arsed chasing them to find out.schoonerm3 wrote:Cool, thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
Safety devices or custom will be the way I think.
Mr. Tedswagon. Why would anyone spend over 1k on a cage for show

Cool then. I've seen loads of weld in cages for show! With the weld in cages you'll get a better fit, imo but just remember you'll be putting paint on practically the entire inside of the car after installation!schoonerm3 wrote:Thanks for the replies fellas.

I have actually decided now to go with wiechers 6 point bolt in. They are a well known manufacturer and race team.
I will weld certain areas of it to enhance its strength. Basically the options they offered but just do it yourself. Alot cheaper.
Sent payment yesterday
