Same injector is fitted to 316i and 318i M40 engines, although you'll need a set and a half, of course.

that interesting. just swapped out my 4 injectors from my m40 316i 1989 . but the ones i fitted were slightly different to the ones in there. the ones i took out had the pintel yellow caps on them, the set i fitted were slightly shorter didn,t have caps and had 3 spray holes in black plastic where they go into inlet manifold.
my question is, were their 2 types of injectors fitted to these engines ? I bought the whole inlet manifold with injectors fitted as a complete lump , on underside of top I/M it stated 1.6 . they (suppose they could have been newer injectors someone fitted )they have a greeny colour band running around them.
the cars running fine with these injectors. in fact in seems more responsive.

BMW list both Bosch and Lucas injectors as OEM, and given my experiences with components fitted to BMC vehicles many years ago, I know which I'd prefer to find.
Injectors are normally rebuilt rather than replaced, and injectors working as they should will always make an engine 'more responsive' than ones that have done 100,000 miles + (= order of 300,000,000 operations).
