Adjusted my seat today and the seat back would not lock. Took the seat out and bloody hell the left side of the frame had snapped, like someone had taken a hacksaw to it. Scary thing is the seat it seems has always been like this. From the time I bought them years back. So please inspect your seat frames.

Good point.
I've seen a lot of broken seats and each one is easy to spot by sitting in it.

Thats the thing. Mine seemed ok. Till I adjusted it. Like Hammonds seat on the e30 topgear episode. But even worse.Topblag wrote:Good point.

Almost always caused by one of the seat back securing screws becoming loose, and nothing being done about it.
Screw loose on one side massively increases the loading on the other side, as well as applying a twisting moment to the point where it eventually cracks. The sharp transition from thick metal to thin where it fails is poor design, as this provides a concentrated stress point. Running beads of weld out from the repair at right angles, to form a star pattern helps.
