hi guys, my name is stu, i am an alcoholic, sorry, force of habit, er, i have a 1990 325 se, love every minute that i drive it apart from grip issues in the wet down to rubbish rear tyres but thats gonna be sorted in the next couple of weeks, i got my car for 800 quid of a mate and i love it to bits, has niggly bits that need doing such as rear arches are scabby, it has a wonky number plate it needs a bloody good clean inside and out but apart from that here it is

i was just reading about the fuel sonsumption in another thread and im glad its not just me gettin not many mpg, i have had it jacked up today looking for leaks :)

gonna check mine has an lsd, the guy i bought it off said it has but im not so sure, doesnt like gripping with the road at all in the wet, likes to squirm about under acceleration lots, but i just cant wait till i can use it on a dry road!!!! sick of goin nowhere fast in the wet!!

another reason i have posted is that my mate has reversed into my front wing and dented it, it is repairable although i'd prefer a new wing, but my local respectable indy bodyshop wants 257 quid to do it!!! my mate is paying so i shouldnt worry, never had to have any car repaired bodywork wise ever so i wouldnt know the going rate?? i know its 160 quid labour though!!!

anyway, i am also a member of bmwland but i guess if your car isnt less than 2 years old they dont give a monkeys and dont reply so i have checked this dedicated site out and it seems spot on, so i think i'll hang around if thats ok?

Welcome to the zone. After hanging around here for a while you'll have the car looking and running like new in no time. :D

thanks for the welcome, picking up lots of bits here an there to get it lookin good again, got some fog lights to replace the driver side one thats smashed - Ԛ£25 so i guess i have one for sale for a tenner :D ? been offered a full stanless ashley system? think it was anyway? but full tubular manifold and stainless system but its gonna be mega bucks, got offered some genuine bmw lock nuts today for a tenner, so i snapped them up, all off the guy who sold me the car!! hes a good mate to have. my mate is good at bleeding me dry!!! i just need some dry weather to see what my baby can do, been used to fwd for about 10 years so its all a bit wierd driving into corners differently an stuff, will have to go on a track i guess and get it sideways a few times to learn how to handle it properly. bloody quick aint the word though, its stonkin!!! what sort of power are these cars putting out after all these years (130k)? anythin close to standard? mine has a new head which was fitted recently so i guess that would regain a few on standard??

Trust me you'll have lots of fun learning what the car can do and you'll probably have a couple of scary moments in there as well! :D

They still put out close to the factory figure which is 172bhp I think. Most late shape 325 engines make in the high 160's when standard still.

Hi mate and welcome to the zone, even though you signed up in December!

The fact you say the car squirms in the wet doesn't mean you don't have an LSD, with an LSD the power will be going through both rear wheels, hence making the back end 'squirm', even more so in the wet.

Jack the car up, and take a look.

i did register in dec, but was just gettin info on some stuff to do with the car, lots of stuff to read concerning the car i was getting, had the car about a month and a half, really am loving it, the lsd subject is one im working on, in my old fwd car you could feel which wheel was doing what through the wheel but not so much now, its the seat of ya pants thats doing the talking, all the roads round where i live are either like skating rinks or heavy camber so any kind of flooring it in 2nd or 3rd results in a twitch from the back end and a big roar  gonne give it a good going over when i get rid of my other car, good scrub in the engine bay (just a bit yukky and grimy at the mo, not too bad) but am gonna get some spark plug leads and spark plugs and see how it goes then, which plugs and leads do you guys prefer??

you lot have probably seen the video before but i'll post a link anyway, always loved the sound of the 6 cyl bmws ever since i first saw them when i was wee. this one sounds sweet as a nut even if the turbo is so big the guy needs to rev the absolute nuts off it to get it boosting enough to move
