Hey guys, I purchased a CirrusBlau S2 1988 320i eurospec (australia) about 2 months ago and only recently found out that the whole interior was a swap (originally indigo stoff with manual windows and now a beige with automatic windows), even the cluster was changed so unfortunately I haven't a slightest clue the kilometres the car has travelled in its life.

With no service books, owners manual or even a build sheet under the rear seat, this kinda put a downer on owning an e30 but i've moved past it and come to the decision of reconditioning my current engine or buying a new one to get some understanding of milage. Respraying the car Lachsilber and removing the bottle caps and replacing them with 15" OEM Euroweaves. Installing a black interior, black vinyl door cards black leather seats etc, OEM premium sound and the iS?? trunk lip, not sure if that's strictly an iS line spoiler as i've seen on it a few regular sedans and coupes.

Would this be an okay thing to do? with the vin saying cirrus blau etc, I don't plan on selling the car anytime soon or ever.

Thanks heaps guys! 8) 8)

Hi
I would say it's your car so do what you want to do! I feel it's been changed around to much to take back to original oem spec, as for your engine if it runs fine with no nasty knocks or rattles a recon on the engine is brilliant idea I found the m20 nice to work on if after more performance maybe a m20 b25 or a m50,52 I like a m20 in my e30 tho lol, for the interior I would say go for the change, I've gone for the swap my self on my touring went from dark grey cloth matching door cards to beige leather with custom black/ beige doorcards and dyed black carpets it's not hard to swap interior and I feel looks way better then when it was cloth, has this affected the value etc maybe but like you I plan to keep the car a long time and it's how I want my e30
Sorry for going on hope this helps

From the VIN you can find out the original spec, but does it matter? It is your car so have it the way you want it. If your engine is running well it seems pointless to me to recondition it or replace it simply to get an idea of mileage, with a car nearly 30 years old what is important is the current condition, surely, not what distance it might have covered.
