My son has an E30 1997 Convertible Auto, checked the VIN with Cotswolds and it show up that it came with a LSD, I checked the tag on the diff but its rusted to buggery so could not decipher it.

Also shows OBC but has standard clock or would this be the ODBC Port as its the older model with a different layout under the bonnet?

Looks like it might have been robbed of the OBC. This was the computer that replaces the analogue clock - nothing to do with diagnostic ports. Clues remaining might be a column stalk with 'BC' on a push button end, and evidence of the gong on the under dash panel above the drivers' knees.
Hopefully the LSD is still there, and the TRX tyres and rims are long gone.
LSD diffs often has a yellow circle with a 'S' inside of it painted on the underside of the case, as well as the tag. Only certain way to tell is to remove the rear cover and check visually, but jacking up the rear wheels, with the car in gear might give a clue. If you try to turn the one wheel it should be difficult to do so. With an open diff., the opposite wheel will spin readily in the opposite direction.

Thanks Brian, what where the TDX alloys as it now has standard BBS's will check the stalk pr I assume it should have a gong and a temp sensor n the car hidden away unless its all been removed and sold on.

Its just seems odd that an automatic would have an LSD.
