looking for bilstein b4 information.

hi guys.can anyone tell me if the bilstein b4 front shocks are still inserts that fit in the original strutt lowers or do they replace the whole unit?i am tempted to go generic inserts for half the cost if they are completely hidden.i understand the rears will be visible as they have no strutt assembly.any generic picture seem to show brackets on the sides of the fronts so unless im being fooled by the the pictures they cant be just inserts can they?im heading over to remove them today and prepare a shopping list so it may be clearer later on but still any info appreciated.thanks si

It's just a generic pic as long as it's the correct part number they will be inserts.

???? These are one of the most important functional parts of the suspension system, not a piece of decorative trim. What does it matter if you can see them, when fitted, or not?

THIS!

The springs, shock absorbers and bushes are the most critical parts that effect how well an E30 (and pretty much any car) drives.

Dont scrimp on these and B4's are cheap enough any way!
