Just got an E30 again, haven't had one in about 5 years and I'm wondering what people think is the best lowering option with 15" BBS and keeping good ride quality on the road, not track.

A 30-40mm drop is the usual recommendation, I certainly wouldn't go lower than a 40mm drop.

Would the standard struts be ok with a 30/40 drop?

As far as I know standard struts are ok for anything up to 40mm. Personally I would go 30 or 35mm all around.
