Hey guys, I'm fairly new to E30s and after a bit of advice on what engine oil I should run. I have tried searching and I am still not sure. My m20 is far from standard, 2.8 stroker with forged pistons, corrillo rods, lightened, balenced and knife edged crack, piper ultimate road cam, ported head with larger valves and a few other tasty bits. Time has come for its first oil change in my ownership. Any tips on what is a suitable oil??

I go for 5-40 full synthetic.
What oil was used in the running in period of the engine?

i use a 10W-50 oil when its hotter months and 10W-40 during colder. fiting an oil temp gauge and pressure gauge helps you decide on the correct viscosity.
make sure its got a decent high pressure additive (one type is zinc and phosphorus) to protect the cam and rockers, then dont worry too much just change it frequently and dont use alot of revs or throttle until the oil gets warm (it takes longer for the oil to warm up than coolant)

Ok cheers guys, not sure on what was used when running in as the engine was built quite a long time ago and by a previous owner. I think I will try 10w50 and fit some gauges to keep an eye on things.
