Hello folks

First post from 1989 E30 318i owner, but not much of a petrol head! Can anyone let me know what the unplugged cable from under hood in picture is? Also where does it plug in? I came across it last night.

Wondering if it's connected to why my heating has not been working for months?

Can't get the pic. to work, but you've more than likely found the plug than connects to the solenoid valve for a closed circuit fuel tank vent system, which more than likely you don't have fitted, if you're in the UK.

P.S. Pic. has finally loaded, and that's what it is.

There are no electrical cables, unplugged or not, under the bonnet, or in the cabin, that will stop your heating from working, or do you mean the fan isn't working?

Thanks for the reply - that's ruled that out.

No, the fan is working OK but temperature control has no effect and it's constantly cold and very noticeable recently in cold weather. Ive been reading http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... oubleshoot and going to start by bleeding the cooling system, but thought I'd find out what the 'dangling plug' was first.

Am I right in that it makes sense to acquire the parts you may well need to replace before you start investigating and dismantling things? I don't have a garage or off road and don't want to leave the car spilled out onto the pavement while I wait for the postie to deliver a spare part!

9 times out of 10 the heating issue is the heater valve either being stuck or knackered! I've had it on all 3 of my E30's.
