Hi All...
Is it possible to change the display in the small OBC (6 Botton)?? If yes, does anybody know where to get the display or circuit board?? I looked all over the web but found nothing.. I could buy a used, but what is the guarantee...It is a common problem with bleeding displays, and new ones are not available..[/img]

You're best off replacing the whole unit, unless you happen to get lucky and find a NOS LCD.

Hi, I have dabbled in this(and the 13 button). I have stripped both units down, the 6 button is far easier
but the problem is finding a replacement screen. I have not managed to do this yet.
Also the 6 button and 13 button screens are different, as are the connector plugs.
Look for a good used unit instead.

Hi.. I asked a similar question on a german forum, they claim that it is possible to press out the blister and then glue the edges with super glue, while you keep it under pressure, i might try this but i still think a replacement LCD would be the best and longer lasting solution...

I did not know it was called a NOS LCD... Is this the description i should search for???

NOS = New Old Stock

Once an LCD has bled, I don't think there's any way of repairing it - it's the liquid crystal oozing out, probably from a small crack in the glass that sandwiches it.

Hi,

I'm new here but I'm in E30 technical topics for years.

I know this topic very well.

LCDs for OBC1 and OBC2 has a problem with delamination. So layers are getting off due to high temperature and time. Original glue is cracking over time.

If there is a beginning you may try to glue it immediately if observed.

After some time it will not be possible. Liquid crystal fluid will not go back permanently. I tried it and I have failed, but LCD was delaminated for some months.

There is no way to buy LCD for OBCs.

P.S.
I still have few in a good shape. Keept in a cool dry place since years. Waiting for new user. :)
