It's a straightforward option when building a stroker as it already has the increased capacity so you don't have to bother swapping cranks and rods etc. It's an easy way but not the most efficient in the long run as you are restricted to the 731 head (320). The best head is the 885 from the 325i as it has bigger valves and ports and generally flows better, but it needs to be used in conjunction with the 325 pistons, which would obviously involve a crank and rod change in order to gain the extra capacity AND utilise the better flowing head.
Its almost like putting a 731 head on an eta short block is the m20 equilavent to an m50 manifold on an m52, whereas building one from the crank up and using an 885 is more on par with knocking up an m52b30.
