I've got my GB plates through and want to fix the front directly to the bumper without drilling or using a surround. Would a good double sided tape keep it tight and also flush with the curve of the bumper.
Told you it was lame.

Halfords sell the double sided sticker things, the front sticker set has different thickness stickers to follow the curve if that makes sense! They worked perfect on my X5 and CRV.

We use some of this tape at work to machine some medical grade plastics where we can not use a vice for fear of distortion.
We also use it to hold very intricate parts still during the inspection process.
I will get a name to it ....I used it on my Baur rear window last year to place a patch on a split for only a few days .
It was still there 9 months later and still very strong.

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.

I use sticky pads and only stick the ends on the plate down on the front. No pads in the middle.

Pads work, but correct preparation of the surfaces (i.e. must be clean) is paramount.

agree, must be clean, go fir a good brand like 3m and follow instuctions. also use a lot of pads spread over a large area to distribute the stress as the front plate will have to be held in a slightly curved position
