Is the damage insurance registered ?

As ever, without pics it's difficult. I'd be looking for the restoration photos and invoices and looking for any welding to asses the quality of it. Rust will reappear in that time period if done badly, will not if done right in the same timeframe.

Ask the owner to remove the tech 2 kit for an inspection and if he will, you're on a winner, if not, there'll be something nasty hidden. I've broken a good few and in my experience they rust more than non-kitted variants.

If it's an undocumented new engine, value is affected as original numbers don't match.

That's an unlucky tale about the damage, what's more likely is that it was smashed quickly as the owner kicked it's guts in.

It’s not registered on the insurance and the engine is the original one it was rebuilt I will get a load of photos today. Personally I think the best way forward would be to but a good she l and swop everything over I will get some photos today and see what you think. I know the tale is true as I have know the owner for a very long time
