Hi I got a 325i 1988 switchable auto and I need to top up the gearbox oil, I've spoken to BMW but they can't advise me which oil to use. Any ideas?

Also need to know what's the best diff oil too

Just any dexron 2 or 3 is fine for an e30 auto box. Do you have limited slip differential or open?

Dexron II was the OE oil which has largely been replaced by Dexron III. Worth doing the filter too - they're cheap enough.

Limited slip diffs uses Castrol syntrax 75-140w - if it's a medium case diff then you want 1.7l of oil:
