When driving and you give it gas it just cuts out and no power all dials go off but because in motion goes again. Gets worse longer you are driving it just struggles to eithen go after about 15 min

If the clocks turn off (speedo and lights) then its not going to be an engine sensor

I'm just doing what my machanic is telling me. Because it's cutting out that's why clocks go off.all the research I have done is saying the parts I have changed and still doing it. Only got coil packs to do now. But that should show a fault and now fault are coming up

What EXACTLY do you mean by "all dials go off"? Going by what you've said, this isn't even an engine related fault.

Right the car will idle it's just when you excelarate about 15 min into driving it's kangaroos no power and cuts out that's when the dials go the needles bounce all over the place .i think the dial part is normal when car isn't running right

Which dials? Fuel gauge?? Coolant temp??
It's impossible to remotely diagnose faults without accurate and complete data.

No expert on the S50, but I can't see how coil packs would affect the tacho.
If nothing shows on the fault codes, then I'd be looking for a power feed problem, and DME relay would be first thing on the list, followed by a hunt for an old immobiliser.
You don't need to fit a new relay - just use wire links to connect together 30 and anything 87 on its socket, but don't forget to remove them when parked.

Probably should have wrote "you don't need to fit a new relay to test it"!Siggo wrote:Is that a auto electrician job .have replaced everything else so might as well do then .cheers
A relay is a simple device, and is easily bypassed by one or two pieces of wire, depending on its type.
Just pull out the relay and fit a couple of wire links while you drive the car, removing them when you stop the engine.
If the engine behaves itself for a sufficiently long period that you're sure the fault has gone away, then get yourself a replacement relay.

Jam a bit of wire in it like Brian suggested. If it works, buy a new relay.
Or sack your mechanic off. He sounds like nothing more than a glorified part fitter. Where are you located? Someone like Dan (DanThe) who posted in this thread should be able to sort you out if you are near

Wirral area. On my 3rd machanic . There's 4 orange 2 black relays only in the fuse box 1 lime green outside. Which one is it. Taken 3 coil packs off all very easy and abit loose on the spark plug no suction is that normal.

Just tried no don't fit. It's strange it's only when engine warm. Research saying could be coils as they get hot then wait to cool down then car goes again

Pulled coils out one by one when car running see if engine note changes seen to be ok. Can smell fuel plus there's like six like little tupes above the trumpets that are sucking in air two have rubber over them so I've put screws in them
