i'm going to be attempting this tomorrow for the first time and thought i'd ask is there a guide how to do it or things i shouldn't undo . I mean i've got all the bolts undone that hold the box to the bulkhead and i'm stuck with the brake bar , i've loosened both the 17mm nuts on each end of the bar and i've got it nearly out of the pedal box side but it just doesn't want to undo anymore or come out , should i of undone one of the many clips/cir clips and pushed a pin out or something ?

Have you got the two hidden nuts out which are attached to the two seated bolts hidden under sealer at the wing side of the front battery tray, they are sneaky mother truckers.

Ive done it but cant remember how. What I can remember though is to get a second assistant to help when threading the brake bar back in again. When you do it, you'll see what I mean and why :D

It's a sore job trying to position yourself to work in that corner. I'm sure I released the brake bar as far as it would go, pryed the pedal box backplate off the bulkhead and did some wiggling and turning and then it was out. I spot welded the two top bolts back in.

after a fair bit of pondering and picking my arse i decided that the best way of atteck was to leave the brake bar the f00k alone and remove the auto pedal from the box and use just the brake and clutch pedal from the donor manual box ....

Was going to say but ive seen you worked it out the you don't need to swap the whole pedal box, just swap the brake pedal and ad the clutch pedal and master cylinder.

love how the shell is auto/manual one fits all ... just knock out a blank panel and push out a grommet ..... now i can move on without any doubts with the red turd .

customers car is the very clean 318i black auto that was quickly snapped up @ £1700 couple months back .
