Morning,

Im buying a new battery for my turd i think i'm going with a bosch silver top.

What batteries are people using?

Does anyone use a battery conditioner?

The turd is parked up over the winter with very occasional use (that cold dry winter morning when you get the urge to tare shit up :) ) id like to just jump in it and drive it , instead of the fuck fest of charging the battery back up, or trying to jump it !

Peace out,

P.S - Vote leave :)

I always use Varta but Bosch sould be good too. Know nothing about battery conditioners, never used them.

I've got the MXS 3.8 for the 325 and M3 which works well.

The M5 touring uses the MXS 5.0 but that's a big battery.

I bought a battery for my e30 and e60 recently and the best I found were Bosch at Costco, much cheapness and a no quibble return if any issues.

Interesting , the specs are pretty much the same ..

Varta do 3 powers of the 096 same as bosch do.

Varta is a fair bit cheaper though

Modern batteries are likely to be damaged if allowed to go flat, and are susceptible to freezing when flat, which will kill them stone dead, so a trickle charger is a good idea on cars that are laid up.
Ctek are good, and should be at that price. Mine get the ones that are available from Lidl from time to time.

Ive got a Ctek that ive had for about 4 years. Nice piece of kit.

I do however worry about leaving something like that connected permanently for months at a time.

My last Bosch battery lasted until about 3 months after its 4 year warranty so i bought a Lion battery from ECP for about half the price of a Bosch with a 3 Year warranty.
