The S38B35 was based on the M88/3, but with changes including a dual-row timing chain, camshaft, compression ratio lowered to 9.8:1 and fitted with a catalytic converter.

The South African market E23 745i used the M88B35 and both automatic and manual boxes were offered.Griffffo wrote:thanks I just found a e28 m88 for my e30 can you bolt the 4 speed m30 e34/e28 automatics to the m88?
The switchable 4HP-22 box from the M30B35 powered E34 635CSi, E28 528i/535i E23 735i is the one to use.

I am so pissed of the e28 m5 had a stupid 2.8 not a m88
but not to worry I found a m52 from a e34 with one of those manual selection auto gearboxes. so that's got me thinking how hard is it to put a m52 in a e30 with the automatic with the manual selection?

Then it's not an M5. And the e34 never had an M52 or any sort of manually selectable autobox if u are refering to a steptronic. Someone is telling you lies.

I just drove a 318i manual and I fell inlove with it so I think I might go manual even though a tricked up auto would be epic!

You have not been on here a month yet. So far you have planned having an m88, s38, m52, and a 3.1L m20 that I have seen, I've seen talk of 3, 4, and 5 speed auto, steptronic because the are better, but now you have "fallen in love" with a 318i manual!!Griffffo wrote:im confused WTF do you mean?
You just don't seem very stable.
How old are you?
The e30 is a cool car, even a 318i, it doesn't need a 1000bhp to do that. Just get one and enjoy it, then decide what to do.
I'd say you've got off lightly so far.
Do you know Pony?

Just read the 3.1 m20 stroker thread
So you have a 10k budget for that, are going to buy a new 7 series and you are a 17 year old about to start an apprenticeship. Come on buddy, stop wasting your time and ours

I love my e30 and I will do a stroker simple as that. I just wanted to hear from people whats the best way to go about it! I realize yous cant take me seriously that's far enough im a young bloke with dreams but I didn't mean to wast your time!
