Been away from the zone for a while, mainly because the car has been working 100%.
Took it for MOT this morning & found out my power steering rack has shat itself & is leaking fluid everywhere.
What is the best option for upgrading & what is required to do the job.
Secondly the car has started running like a bag of shite, coughing & bunny hopping if I try & put my foot down.
I haven't had a chance to check yet (still at work), but is there anything obvious I should be checking?
Any help will be greatly appreciated....

Will the z3 rack fit? It was a common mod on the e36 etc. The coughing and bunny hopping is possibly a split intake hose or vacuum leak.

I'm no expert but i think a lot of people fit the purple tag E46 rack.

Unless you're a tight ass such as myself and just a manual rack for a fiver

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...
Found myself a E46 purple tag steering rack, also ordered all the conversion pipes, engine mounts & steering shaft from Danthe.
Hopefully sort a couple of E34 steering UJs too...
The rough running, I'm putting down to all the power steering fluid that has been splashed all over the engine from the failed steering rack. Certainly, the distributor cap & rotor can do with a clean up.

Optimism is an admirable trait in a person, but sadly, I doubt it will be rewarded in this case.oomz1975 wrote: The rough running, I'm putting down to all the power steering fluid that has been splashed all over the engine from the failed steering rack.
