Power boost Valve?

Easy guys/ladies
Just noticed on another post with power boost valve/Fse mentioned.
I remember these from years ago being advertised in various mags, just wonderd what exactly they do and if they are worth getting?
Does anyone have one of these fitted?

if its anyhging like on the old VW forums,,, there a waste of time,,, and money,,, and space in the engine bay... this jsut what i recall ,, might be diferent on bms

Where I've tried them, they've improved the throttle response a bit at the expensive economy, from what I could tell.

Two of my mates tried them on a Primera eGT (2litre 16v twin cam) and a Golf GTi (2 litre 8v MkIII).

Not usre if they're worth it, especially if you're not fitting other mods and then getting it all optimised with a remap / Dyno session.

Get a Zone chip instead as the FSE are a bit of a gimic

the problem with boost valves is that theyre adjustable,and people buy them and just fit them and expect results. To use them to there best you need to put it on at the same time as your chip,exhaust etc....and have it set up on a rolling road,they do make a small difference,but with other things at the same time they can all make a great difference!

Oguz, your chip provides the correct AFR for optimum go dude, no-one needs an FSE unless they are running major mods or diff injectors

2 "specialist" garages refused to work on my cossie engine until i changed it back to the original regulator.now its gathering dust in the garage. waste of a hundred quid

An FSE boost valve is a glorified name for an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The standard regulator is not adjustable and is set at 3bar. All the FSE valve does is give you the ability to change your pressure. You would also need a guage to read the pressure that you're adjusting so that's more money.

There's no requirement for you to change the fuel pressure for any reason unless you are doing massive intake mods where the stock pressure will not flow enough fuel for the engine.

Some people say that they've fitted an FSE "boost" valve and it's done all these wonderful things to their cars. It's the placebo effect and in reality, all their doing is overfueling their cars.

My sport had one fitted when I bought it, but it overfuelled horribly. When I went to the Mids rolling road day a year or 2 ago the operator fiddled with it a bit which improved things, but recommended i get a standard one. I then swapped it for a new one from BMW (not expensive) and hey presto the huge flat spot I had disappeared, the car now feels much smoother and quicker and gets better mpg.

The best advice I could give based on my own experience is that if you are thinking of getting one DON'T!

Like the others have said, unless your engine is seriously uprated it will make your car perform worse.
