i have recently bought a k plate 318 cab i liked the look of it when i saw its pictures and it was avertised as blue with electric hood when i got it i went to the local dealers to get a build printout and it states it is a 318 design motorsport edition in neon blue. can anyone tell me how it differs from other cabs i have noticed it is a bit different ie vented discs on front a discs on the rear i think it has a rear anti roll bar mtec2 steering wheel and gear nob as well as a cloth recaro interior but are there many other bits added i cant find any written spec for it.i just want to know what i have
many thanks

the motorsport editions are rare nowadays and you are quite lucky if you actually have one. neon blue sounds like a special colour to, what year is it? and does it have the small tail lights

Mate it is a mtechnik edition. i know as i have one. They were made between 1991-93, and came in 2 colours, neon blue and neon green. They only have the mtechnik accessories, i.e steering wheel, gear knob, etc. they did not come with the sport kit as some people say, but with the plastic bumpers. i have been told only 25 were made in each colour ( may b wrong). I thing for sure they are rare.

The 318i Design Cabs were an end of the line run to get rid of the old E30s before the E36 came out. Don't know specifically what extras you should have other than the electric roof and sports seats. The car should definitely be a facelift model so that means green tint glass, elec front windows and central locking. Thought the vent front, solid rear disks were standard fare on the cabs, but could be wrong.
Not to be confused with the 325i Motorsport cabs which had the full M-TechII kit and various other M-Tech goodies.

Didn't ALL convertibles come with Sport seats...?
Your's isn't a 'Motorsport' convertible, as these were only 2.5 litres. You've got a Design Convertible, as Bob says, end of line with special bits on and 2 limited edition colours... blue and green. Standard they had electric roofs, Mtech wheel and gear knob, and 15" BBS's...
Nice motors... only in 1.8 engine sizes though...
Giles.

well thanks for everyones help i now know a bit more about what i have as i didnt have a clue i wanted a 318 as i have a 50 mile round trip to work everyday so it was to keep the running costs down but still have the fun.i have checked the build printout from bmw and it definately states 318 design motorsport edition.......but im gratefull for any other info ie does any one else have one and know if it should have the interior light delay or does it just have the wiring in place ...also should the mirrors be heated...and if they are how do you turn them on even the handbook couldnt tell me(i have the rear blower are they supposed to come on when it is turned on
