I'm trying to figure out what the M20 is sitting in my project car, the first 4 digits of the engine number are 2612 and I can't find any information on it anywhere - is there an engine number decoder?

There should be an engine code stamped on. Something like 256kxx or similar
E30 325is with M20B31
