Just watched this on quest, not sure when it was filmed? Must have been a while ago judging by the price of the car and the bits and bobs. ....car looked nice at the end wonder if its still going?
Was a guy on there with a nice silver touring and the zone got a mention too!!

I think it was filmed around 2004. It's long dead now.
The guy with the silver Touring sold it to another zoner.
Those were the days. 325i Tourings for £900.

Now the kit alone is worth much more than that!Mr-Lachs wrote:2005 i bought a Zinnobar G plate 325i Touring with full factory MTEC 2 Kit on it for £500 notes with 6 months T&T, those were indeed the days!!! Far from it now!!
One of the reasons I bought an e30 all those years ago,was because parts prices where very reasonable in comparison to the cars I had been running.
How things change!
I can still remember 40 quid un-cracked dashes from when I first joined on here!

Absolutely!! If you can even find a suitable kit for sale. Times have indeed changed, 40 quid uncracked dash we would all be clambering in a queue nowadayscsl wrote:Now the kit alone is worth much more than that!Mr-Lachs wrote:2005 i bought a Zinnobar G plate 325i Touring with full factory MTEC 2 Kit on it for £500 notes with 6 months T&T, those were indeed the days!!! Winds me up that programme. The fat bloke turns up talks shit, takes it to his mate, who wears stupid gloves and needs a hair cut, doesn't do the work just palms it to some one else, fat bloke needs to feel like he helps so he goes and embarrasses him self, then once it's finished fat bloke vomits more bullshit and seems happy to give the car away for £300 profit for a weeks work.

I'll be honest your right they never make much profit and they never seem to account for ed China's labour,if they did all the cars would be a loss!!!!!

I think the idea of the show is to encourage you to be both Mike and Ed in one,and buy a car and do it up yourself. There doesn't seem much point of picking cars with all the common faults of each one and then showing how to DIY it if you then pay a mechanic to do it.
Its an OK watch, but like anything on TV , shouldn't be taken seriously or as gospel.

Spoke to the fella who bought the Rover P5B off the more recent series. He said he thinks the numbers on the programme aren't entirely accurate and the bit at the end where the buyer comes and looks it up and down before hammering out a deal, happened 3 weeks after he bought it and took about 5 hours worth of filming...

There's a website somewhere which details what happens to a lot of the cars. Quite a few were used by cast and crew from what I remember

that show really is a joke, was watching it on quest the other week,
they buy a pug 205 gti & on the drive back you can clearly see the bottom end let go yet back at the workshop they claim it was the gear lever linkage that went & caused all the smoke
there was a guy in peterborro who got hold of one of the cars, range rover i think it was, took it for an mot & was told to get rid of it, it was a death trap,
the bodge jobs are epic, & is it me or does edd have a thing for satin black spray paint??
