Having just purchased another e30 after being without one for a few years- I may have forgotten how it feels to drive an older car! is everyone else's experience the same?
All my peddles feel harder and take more effort than I remember.......my modern car feels like im pushing my foot through a fluffy cloud in comparison!
Or maybe something's not right? peddles just feel stiff!

This was the first thing I noticed with e30s too and I test drove a few before buying mine. I did find that after a few days you do get used to thebstiffer peddle and now I hardly notice the difference.jurassicwadey wrote:Or maybe something's not right? peddles just feel stiff!

New cars seem to be designed for emaciated computer gamers and old ladies.
I personally can't stand the lack of feel or weight to modern car controls.
Ford brakes are the worst, My dad has a new focus and every time I drive the thing the first few miles have me picking my teeth out of the dashboard.

I find the same, my daily is a vw up! and the clutch is unbelievably light in comparison. I prefer the heavier clutch of my e30

The difference is the E30 clutch is designed to hold the toque of an engine, not an elastic band like the dub scrapRobWill116 wrote:I find the same, my daily is a vw up! and the clutch is unbelievably light in comparison. I prefer the heavier clutch of my e30

My 2003 (new car in my eyes!) Jap turd has a clutch pedal which requires a little flick up from the foot to help it release properly whilst changing gear and brakes that require a little future ahead planning before application. I.e, sh1t, but does the job.

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

+1 first time I drove a new fiesta, i touched the brakes and its like getting into an accident! at least when you crash theres some leeway,
brakes are stupidly sharp, dont know if there all like that, but its either very mild braking feathering the brakes or emergency stop, no go between, steering is too sharp as well,

I use a Peugeot van at work and the brake pedal might as well be a switch - fully on or nothing.bmw9818 wrote:brakes are stupidly sharp, dont know if there all like that, but its either very mild braking feathering the brakes or emergency stop, no go between, steering is too sharp as well,
Another pointless development is the screen wash doesn't just spray while the arm is pulled, it sprays for about 5 seconds every time. In standing traffic most of the fluid ends up on the roof and then for the next 10 minutes runs back down onto the screen.

I find no difficulty whatever in switching between my 1954 MG with no assistance, my E30 and my modern daily driver, it is a matter of using progressive braking, starting gently, increasing pressure and finally easing off. If you use the same pedal pressure regardless of the vehicle you are in, you will not get satisfactory braking when you change cars. Progressive braking explained: http://www.drivingtesttips.biz/braking.html

Of course not, and never had. In the 1930s The Vintage Sports Car Club was formed for cars built before 1930, because the founders considered modern cars built after then to be mass produced soulless boxes, and thoroughly undesirable in every way.ah wrote:Modern cars have no soul!

My daily Insignia is the same, it always feels like "coming home" when you jump back into the E30
