3m do some great stuff that is over paintable unlike Shultz.

Will need a air compresser and a underseal type gun.

You could just use brush able seam sealer if it's only a small area

Excellent, got a whole underside to do, just the job.

How much do you need for a whole car underside from bare metal ?

If you can find The Xworks 'minor rust repair' rebuild thread with the pictures still intact, he covers it in details with pics and details of how much it took to do.

If it's bare metal I personally ( after years of panel beating ) would etch prime it then go over it with bmws stuff if they do any if not Peugeot/Citroen do a really good one that you can paint over this is how I did the underside of my mates mk1 golf then we painted over the top and it looked fine, if anyone is reading this and wants a more underbody type sealer that you don't paint over brown brothers do a good one and from memory the part number is bubc or bubuc I can't remember exactly, hope this helps

It's getting a coating of Zinc 182 anti-rust primer from bare metal, then the underseal after that. The new metal and fresh joints are getting Zinc 182 then POR 15 then seam sealer and stonegaurd or underseal, dependant on location. All box sections and untreated areas are getting waxoyl.

It's a full strip down and rebuild, fuel lines, brake lines, all suspension components and brakes renewed.

I used the 3m 08800. It's brilliant stuff and can only be applied with 3m's gun (£50).
It's not cheap at around £15 a bag but well worth it. I used over 35 bags though so be prepared to spend as it doesn't go far.

From bare metal I went:
Zinc Epoxy Primer
Keyed
Tiger Seal
Re-primed over sealer
Keyed
3M 08800
Body colour
Hopefully I won't be doing it ever again as it was a mission to do on axle stands at home.
Jim.
