Just wondered if a 318is is de-valued if it has a 325i engine fitted ? I have been offered a 318 is with a rattling bottom end and i know of a complete 325i engine set up . Or just repair is engine . Cheers

Yes, a 318is is a desirable turd in its own right , fitting a 325 engine (even though it will make it faster
) will make it a molested turd amongst all the others and kill its resale value. Be aware you will need EVERYTHING off the 325 inc gear box , diff , exhaust etc etc etc , so as well as ruining the cars value, you will spend a shed load more money doing it than fixing what you have.

Fitting a 325i engine will devalue a pristine iS, but will make it more fun. Fitting a M52B28 engine will make it even more fun, and will mate to the iS gearbox.
Stick the iS engine in the back of a shed if the shell is a good one. It can always be refitted again when an original iS reaches £20,000 in value.

The shed ( and probably the house ) will be mulch long before that!Stick the iS engine in the back of a shed if the shell is a good one. It can always be refitted again when an original iS reaches £20,000 in value.
