Took our E30 out for a bit of fun at the haynes motor museum track this weekend.

Was over 3 seconds a lap slower even on my quickest run than the slowest of the Evos/Scoobys that i went with, but i was the most entertaining to watch apparently.

Was sideways absolutely everywhere, really good fun.

Just shows a car doesnt need to be fast or competitive to enjoy driving it :D

Example of quote about it when discussing the "most entertaining driver" award:
my vote goes to chip, mainly for oversteering on his way TO the start line.

LOL

Awesome fun.

I would like to think that once I was out on a track, I would put my 'race-face' on and try and stick to the back of that car in front, shaving a few tenths here and there.. but I know damn well that as soon as the back steps out, I'm gonna do my best to hold it out there for as long as possible :thumb:

To hell with lap times, it's the grin factor that counts.

Haynes is a very small track, so only 1 car on it at a time, so no issues with keeping with the person in front.

I tried doing some sensible laps, but the times were roughly as follows:

Fastest Evo 8 on the day = 1:18
Me trying in the E30 = 1:25
Me having a laugh drifting including a spin = 1:35

I was so far off competitive anyway that it was far more interesting sacrifcicing losing by a bit to lose by a lot instead and have a laugh.

Did highlight how worn out the shocks were though, could really feel it, who is the person on the forum who does the H&R kits for the E30, would much sooner give my business to a fellow 'Zoner if possible?

That man would be Sal (M5pilot) who runs the zone shop.

Is alright down haynes a tad small but still enjoyable non the less. There is many different ways to go, you didn't get lost did you chip winkeye

I was down there just watching a rally car about 3 weeks ago, trying to solve an overheating problem, slicks make a huge difference in the dry but not in the wet as the owner found out to his cost.

I was in the passenger seat i'd like to point out and we 'touched' a barrier at about 15 mph, lucky i had 4 outta the 5 point harnesses done up, wacked my arm on the roll bar. This was down the long straight chip as you are coming towards the museum at about 70-75mph, i suprisingly didn't shit myself, but then it's not my car :(

Thankfully for those tyres infront of the armco it wasn't much worse.

How much did it cost Chip as i think its Ԛ£50 to hire for 3 hours iirc?

just to say the H&R cup kit is nothing short of amazing difference - ridiculous even. well worth the bucks and god would i likew to drive mine on the track since i fitted it - car just corners lovely and you dont get that "float in" boaty sort of understeer in the corners that an e30 with older suspension gives

Track was 300 quid to hire for the day. (that was between us of course!)

We had to stop for an hour at lunch, so we got about 5-6 hours for that.

There were 14 of us, we paid 30 quid each with the remainder going to the funds of the "southwest performance car club", my mate was supposed to be on in his pulsar but its broken (again, lol) so we took the E30 down instead.
