specialist bmw garages in poole,dorset

evening all a newbie looking for advice.being told that connellys on the ashley road are good .wondering if there are any more in poole.cheers

Hi mate, any details of your car? I'm in Poole as well...

There's a specialist in Southbourne I think but don't know the name,
I usually try to do my own little bit like servicing and general replacement of parts but if it's something I can't be arsed to do I use my mate's dad's garage in Alder Hills. He is listed as a Subaru/Mitsi/Merc specialist but the guy can work on anything..let me know and I can pass on his details.

I do everything myself too, apart from the evil rear subframe bushes... Jim knows somewhere cheap for them, so that's where mine are going!

its a 325touring ,white smoke or steam on start up which goes when its warmed up.just want to make sure its not the head gasket(though deep down i know it is)and get decent quote for the job.

Is it the touring that was for sale on Herbert Avenue?

Can't really help on a rough price for the HG tho mate

THis is normal behaviour for 6 cylinder M20's.

I'm in Poole too and I use a place in Southbourne called Motech if I really have to but I do most things myself. I think Jim might have had a few problems with Motech though.

Checks for the head gasket are to take a look in the expansion tank for traces of oi residue or take the oil cap off and see if you've got a mayo substance on the underside of the cap.

Also los of coolant or overheating can be signs of a cracked head or dodgy gasket. If all of these things are fine then it's just normal behaviour of your car.

I think we might have to arrange a Poole Meet. Seem to have a few local members now.

Thanks for the help. No oil or mayo in the expansion tank or overheating , but do get some loss of coolant. If its a cracked head thats a new engine

I'm up for a get together. Having moved to Bournemouth in the last few months, I am keen to meet with other E30Zoners. Let's face it its all about keeping these great cars, that are great fun to drive, on the road.......and not getting shafted by garages for jobs that are sometimes beyond our own competence, or generally, we haven't got the tools / facilities to do.

I am not very impressed with Connoleys and VERY unimpressed with Keystone in Ringwood-not bad work just a up their own arse attiude

Winkton motors (about 2 miles from Christchurch)are a small Vauxhall specialist but tehy have a mechanic by name Aurelio (sounds like a Lancia) who is a BM fanatic.

They do a good job at a reasonable price

I am sure Marke30 would come to the meet and maybe Lordschlieffe

first off not sure this is the right section now, but here goes. had the the the engine pressure tested it past, but still losing water. bought a head(cheers to hartageh27) for it in the process of geting quotes to have it gas flowed is this wise. cause the eigine done 136000 do not want to put any more wear on the engine

Bottom ends are pretty bomb proof as long as they've been well serviced and looked after throughout their lives.

A new head is a good idea. When I built my 2.8 engine I was having problems with it burning a lot of oil. It had a rebuilt head on it which had been tested and after changing the head I had no more problems. Odd!
