I have recently restored a set of alloy wheels for my E30. I am trying to establish what type and model of BMW they originally came from
I can see from the alloys the following information:
Wheel Size 7.5J x 17H2
ET20
YEAR 1986
(tb)
Made in Germany
Weight 10kg.
Similar to M3 wheels. But mine have only got 4 studs.
Any history would be very helpful. Thank you.
See picture.... hopefully!

They are not an original BMW wheel and nothing similar was ever fitted to an E30 though a similar style OE wheel was fitted to some E36 M3s , albeit all FIVE stud.

Agreed, there's a BMW badge so they must be BMW.

i think those are early 90's german replica's of E36 M3 wheels. they were advertised in AUTOCAR magazine to "upgrade" your old E30 to the new E36 look. its the first set ive seen in the flesh. no wheel like that was available from BMW with 4 lugs. even the E30 M3 had 5 lugs.

Thank you, povertyspec.
This sounds more like it, I have looked through 50 pages of wheels that fit my car on Ebay, plus other sites and still not been able to find them, so yes I think they are a rare breed, but hay I love them, they have made my car look the dogs bollocks.
Thanks David57

Alas Pete, I fear this turd needs all the weight she can get with the wheel arch delete mod she is sporting. Do you think those chrome trims are structural?

Nothing "special" about them, not a genuine BMW wheel - 100%.
Just a replica of a E36 M3 wheel with 4 studs, so you can fit them to an E30, most probably, or other cars with similar fitment.

Well, the bloke likes them. That's the main thing. It's his car. Wouldn't it be dull if we all liked the same thing? It's easy to pick fault at things, people's personal taste and sound like a bell end, Ross.
He likes his wheels! Let's welcome him to the brotherhood.

I like them as well, and would happily run them on my ragtop if they were 15" or 16", but the fact remains that they are not genuine BMW, and very likely, but not necessarily, of inferior construction to the real deal.
At least the tyres were fitted by someone who knows what the coloured dots on them means, unlike whoever one of my local BMW dealers uses.

That style of wheel looks okay on an E36, not to my taste on an E30 - and I've rocked BBK reps!!
*bought the car with them on!

They are infact replicas of replicas,
the 1st replica of the E36 m3, in 4 stud pattern, had "MOTORSPORT" embossed onto them
and these are a copy of those
Not "rare" by any means
M50 Turbo!!!

I shall say no more

Fair play to you David, the most important thing is that you like and enjoy your motor, or else what's the point of having it.

All depends on how you was taught, and how much pride you take in your work I guess!
