So nothing to worry about i take it,i was thinking that it might need adjusting but i was told by bharat that you just dont mess with roofs,if its working leave it.
It just does not look finished to me.

depends on if its electric or manual. in both cases its just the roof is not pushed right down or folded properly. its common on electric roofs as it folds it for you. nothin to worry about.

Mine did that the other day, im guessing the roof either hasnt folded properly or hasnt dropped into the compartment fully.

Well as we all know all 325i Motorsport convertibles came with an electric hood as standard.
Well judging from the responce it seems to be a common fault and nothing to worry about :D i hope.

Hi

Is the lid secure as it is now!!

As it should be locked down and may need the tension wires adjusting that pull the horseshoe down...you will see the mechanism for the wires and the clips either side that lock the lid down...take a look and make sure the centre metal piece is not bent..and that it is doing the last part of the closure

Hope thats clear as it is complicated

Great that the motors are working...but may be getting lazy...make sure you lubricate the moving parts

The parts that will break first on the mechanism are the horseshoe alluminium casing...E30 Cab Parts do a Cast replacement item

The arm can bend and snaps the rosejoint but these parts are still available from BMW

If the lid is not secured it is unlikely to pop up but you need to be aware

Cheers

if you ask a question it's best that people don't have to make assumptions in their answers... how do I know that your car is a motorsport? By the bubble seats? By the grey colour in the BBS? What if you retrofitted these / had a retrim?

If it is electric I'd say get to the bottom of the problem yourself or get it checked immediately - if the hood isn't closing properly, the motors (either the hood mech motor or the cover motor) might be under strain - they are both very expensive new and hard to get hold of 2nd hand

as said it could simply be the closing mech on the cover, or the hood isn't folding properly (there are special wires in the fabric which should force it to fold in a certain way) or the actual rods/bars on the hood - to - motor mech are about to snap off

you haven't given enough info to diagnose any clearer by photo
