Tech 1 325 sport

Hi all, is a tech 1 sport worth £1750, it has sat since 2013 has 130k needs a good service and belts, brakes are seized needs disks too, possibly brake pipes, needs body work, sunroof panel front wing abs an odd bit of bubbling here and there. Needs a new rear bumper and a dent in the tailgate bashing out, has a cracked dash, bits of interior trim missing needs a centre console and has cracked leather, it also has a small hole in the sill that will need welding, it is in silver. I reckon it needs about 3k putting into it. Thanks in advance

More like £5k maybe more, depends how much you do yourself and what parts you need to replace.

I'd shop about and buy the best example you can find/afford. One you can enjoy from day 1 rather than 2 years after blood sweat and pain.

Yeah it will be a long term thing, the price just interested me as I thought it was quite cheap

Obviously I haven't seen the car, but if I saw a genuine tech 1 for £1750 I would buy it there and then regardless of what needed doing.

There are lots of different types of people out there, Like jimbob said, it could take you 2+ years before you can enjoy it, but that depends on who you are and what your willing to do.

personally, I would enjoy every second spent on the car over that 2 years. You may hate it.

Im currently restoring a tech 2 and a mk1 fiesta. The fiesta won't be on the road for at least another 3 years, doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. I LOVE working on it, I love looking at it, I love finding NOS parts on ebay for it.

there are many ways to enjoy a car.

That said, if you have no applicable skills, no interest in gaining any, and intend on getting others to do the work, your better off buying one thats ready to rock.

Don't be under any illusion just spend 3k on it and it will be nice , as Jimbo says ..

Choice is - either literally patch/bodge it up , odd bit of breaker trim etc and hoon around in and enjoy it abeit ropey old turd

Or strip the thing , kit interior dash carpets the lot - then spend thousands of £££ and a labour of love and fully restore it , but it's long and expensive, very , but youl end up with something


Any bubbling or blisters or rust or rot on the roof walk away

But bear in mind - if it's complete has all the tech 1 bits, kit spoilers seats etc and nice- it will break for 1750 , so option 1 just do it cheap as possible and mot and enjoy it, is not a bad option

I decided to walk away, I don't really think the guy knew what he had to be honest, I'm just going to save up a bit and try find a nice is or 2.5, it was a bit too much work needed on it, I prefer tech 2's too be honest

It hardly sounded like a goldmine, probably priced about right being a basket case needing a brave man to take it on

Every "bargain" e30 needs cash and love these days , even mid range ones do one you start digging, what's often described as "a few minor bits here n there" often means much more , or slight bubbles on rear arch been quoted £70 ... blah blah

if i had the space to restore & spare cash I'd happily have that at £1750 but then im lucky to have access to zero cost labour for anything that needs doing
