Hi all,

I've got a 1989 E30 320i touring which I've owned for a number of years.

It's been parked up for two years, had it back on the road for two weeks.

Temperature gauge is only reaching just above a third and the fuel gauge is erratic. It used to sit halfway.

Checked the coolant temp, it's 85 degrees, is that hot enough?

Thermostat according to data opens at 80degrees.

Is this a normal running temp? I don't know of anyone with another to compare it to.

Or could it be loose earth connections on the back of the clocks affecting both gauges?

Thanks in advance :)

Temperature gauge sounds like it's sitting exactly where it should be. If it was sitting at half way two years ago, then it shouldn't have been.

Sounds normal to me.

Mine has always fluctuated between just below half and just above 1/3rd with an 80degC thermostat, B20 and B25 engine.

From what I have been told, there is only a couple of degrees C in it between 1/3 and 1/2.
