I tried bleach and the dishwasher - didn't make much difference to be honest.
You need to find some sort of aggressive cleaner - maybe fill it with vinegar and leave it for a while ?

I removed mine last week to clean it. I used engine degreaser and dish soap scrubbing with a wire brush. I also sprayed limescale remover on the inside and brushed that off with a dish brush. It's as good as new

A trip in the dishwasher gave me weak results for the screen wash tank.
So I used a fair bit of Bleach with hot tap water (brimed the bottle) left to soak while I was at work and bottle brushed the mouldy scale off with a bit of fiddling and funny angles to do so....

Get a bendy wire brush or coat hanger , to try scrub around the tricky bits insude etc , I got mine clean, but still looks old and a brand new one will look the part , just fitted a brand new coolant tank and you just can't beat the look it gives
