It took off the early (1983) exhaust manifold. It has the useless 3 bolt to downpipe flange that never seals properly. Mine also had all the crap emissions piping running off of it that snapped years ago. I welded up the holes left by the emission pipes, but it still looked dodgy. Today I fitted the later M20 manifold with new seals/heat shield and copper nuts. I also had the "new" manifold planed to get rid of any warping. Multiple coats of manifold paint and it looks great.
It is booked in for a stainless exhaust next week. The only problem will be making the 10 minute drive with no exhaust to the exhaust place. Just noise blasting out of the manifold. I think I will borrow a trailer. Any suggestions?

Rigid tow bar would be a simpler alternative to a trailer.

Without an exhaust system, you will probably burn/melt something if you run the car.
