Has anyone done a 325i sport v m3 topic?

IMO, yes. Some people will tell you its all shit, but they haven't driven an M3.

The next E30 I buy I'll be an M3.

You obviously haven't considered the 318is, otherwise known as the "baby M3". It's referred as this because it handles as well as an M3 (power to weight ratio) although another similarity is the number of cylinders. Many consider the four pot to be better than the six.

Thankfully, the 'baby M3's" most rabid supporter is currently banned from the zone.

Seriously, yes, the M3 is without doubt the better car. :D

A 318is does not handle as well as an M3.

RHD, better daily drive and being as quick on the streets may have had a lot to do with it.

Yer, when I was 20 (1995) the guy in the flat opposite worked as a techician at Scothall BMW , we used to chat about e30s for hours, he had a lovely dolphin grey 2 door 325i. I sadly had a 318i moordoor. He was older though and had a better job.

Something to do with six-pot sweetness and torque, making for easier driveability, I should imagine...

Indeed, from talking to Bmw sales men that were "taking orders" in the 80's the M3 was not easy to shift and plenty mentioned that M3's were often chopped in for a 325i sport! 8O

As said, I guess the LHD became tiresome to yuppies after a while or something....

Touchy subject this, I can see the motorsport history thing with m3.
Used to work at dealer in Glasgow a few years back and sampled a few e30s.
Alpina C2 sounded stunning and felt faster than m3 in my opinion, rarer too.
Maybe the 6 pots are a bit nose heavy and have pretty slow steering rack. apart from that what's not to like?

Have to say I prefer the 325 over the M3. It's smoother and I prefer the straight 6 over the S14 for some reason.

I've had a sport (manual and auto), m3 and c2 2.7

I love the look of the m3 but like the alpina engine best for daily road use, the m3 was best on country roads when you could let it rip....my vote goes for the alpina. M3 vs 325i, I think I would go for the m3 for looks, but I prefered the m20 smoothness....so not much help in answering your question :?

Having both a M3 and a C2 2.7 its the M3 for me. The C2 is a bit of a boat in the handling department to the M3, but do agree on a long motorway trip the C2 comes into its own. Overall M 3 for me. End of day just, each to his own.

Cheers

For driving fun I would have the manta over the m3 all day long. You will only agree if you have had both and driven them properly.
