can any1 tell me wots the diff between e36 318is engine and e30 318is?

inlet manifolds and exhaust manifolds are different, but yes an early M42 from a 318iS up to M plate will go in an E30. But u must use the E30 manifold.

defo exhaust not 100% on the inlet. BMW changed these so i've read to alter the torque delivery to give more mid range and less top end to help move the fat E36!

hmm, not sure u would be better of with finding an E30, as it's a defo bolt in and out job.

Not sure if things like the gearbox etc will fit in an E30.

mite have an engine, brain, loom etc of a e36 318is after just findin out my 316i engine is fooked :(

ah, might be time for some questions in the tech section!

If it were E30 to E30, u would need, ecu,engine,zorst,gearbox,rad basically to do it. Whether it's the same for E36 to E30 i don't know sorry!
