trolley jack recommendations

Gutted, after 18 years of faithful service my trusty trolly jack awaits retirement.



Anyone got a good recommendation for a decent replacement.

Got stung, paying ECP £70 for a 2 ton trolley jack before Christmas.. turns out it lifted the car less than the car jack in the boot! Took it straight back!

I have an arcan aluminium low entry trolley jack bought from Costco for 80£, is nice and light, can lift up to 1.8 ton and has been abused for years with no issues.

Would recommend it if it's still available.

I bought one of those a while back - and it was complete rubbish!!!!

The handle you use to twist the knob to lower the car had a naf pin on it that slots in - and it bent beyond recognition the first time I used it!!!
Got a replacement handle from them and using it gently, managed to get the car back down off the jack.
Next use, it was knackered again - had to bodge something to get the car down off the jack!!!

As it only really gets occasional use, it had sat on the shelf for about 11 months in between and on returning it again (a few weeks before a year was up), I was told it wouldn't be refunded or replaced again as it was used and too near the end of the warranty!!!!!!!!!!

Several complaints and getting nowhere later, I simply refuse to buy from Machine Mart anymore!!!!!

I bought a Sealey 1020LE last year, it's a low entry 2 tonne version, perfect for getting under the cab sills.

It was £36.88 delivered off ebay and still available at that price now.

The Arcan jacks from Costco are the best! Ive had mine for 10 years now and its brilliant never ever let me down

Same as me, I think there were 3 or 4 when I got mine, there was a cheaper (about 20-£30 quid from memory, thst did look a bit cheap/lightweight, I got the next one up that looked and felt better , was only £5-10 more I think , but used a fair few times with no issues at all , for the money and if your not a heavy user/pro you can't go wrong

I too have the aluminium arcan jack from Costco

As a Christmas present to myself I got an SGS 3 ton low profile jack at £132 inc vat. I've only used it a few times but it'll reach the chassis rail without ramps and lift the car as high as you could need it, with a sturdy construction. The only downside is I'm not sure if the 3 tons relates to the lifting capacity or the weight of it.

I've just got a halfords 2 ton low profile jack, its had some serious abuse and still going strong. Doesn't look as good as the SGS one in the pic above, but then again I only paid £30 for it in the sales
