One highly modified Isetta :D

Real shame is it'll never be driven, ever. You'd never use it and keep it that pristine. :(

As much as I like to see an immaculate m3, how could you buy one and never drive it! But I guess some people enjoy it more knowing its getting more valuable sitting there looking pretty.

If you're rich enough you buy 2 :D 1 to drive and the other as a piece of furniture with some spotlights on it! It probably doesn't even have fuel & oils in it..

people see them as an investment, like a piece of art. Never to be driven, just appreciated

That gold looks stunning! How did you do the calipers without coating the inside? With the pistons still in?

That's the people I use Jim.

Most likely together Leigh.

And yes the Pistons left in while the main body is plated, Pistons remain unplated as they are not in contact with the main body, then once back from plating, new seals, dust boots, bushes and nipples.

I'd happily buy that just to hang on my gallery wall as a desirable piece of art. Visitors would be discouraged from touching it, so that it would be preserved perfectly for future generations to gaze at it in wonder.
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!

Sad story about that bubble car..

True, it started as a 3 man project to build from the ground up the cleanest e30 m3 ever. An exercize in OCD if you will. The project took numerous years and the cost ran way above what they expected the car would ever recoup in sale. The car was winner of a concourse show on its first outing and made a name for itself as the bubble car, in which it did live. It was also used in some referance shots for the 17,900 emotions M3 book.

Anyhoo.. The car got sold.
To a collector of fine things.
But with no real respect for the "M" heratige per say.
After tracking the car for a short while, he determined it was too slow, and ripped the engine for a 2.5 tuned turner motorsports unit. The unit as i understand was poorly completed and leaking on 3 cyls.
After about a year +, the engine troubles were sorted and the car was put up for sale again.

So sadly , this legend of a car is now no better or cleaner than yours or mine.
Some think it was good the car eventually found the life it was intended for,
Some consider it sacrilege to butcher a museum work like that .

All in all, this level of clean will probably never be seen again

Well that's a sad story then isn't it? Thought this museum piece was factory original but so it was restored to the highest standard only to be disrespected & ruined by a rich cock! What a shame..

Another great example then that restoring a car is wasted work, time & money when it's not there to be enjoyed with respect and cherished for a long time!

Respect to the guy for pasting it on track in my eyes. Cars aren't meant to live their life in bubbles and it's not like it's the only one out there.

Granted, if someone ruined one of the Bonkers cars I probably wouldn't condone it as they are irreplaceable, but the white turd was just a restored m3. Anyone with deep enough pockets can have one.

I understand but sorry mate, no respect from me on that part!

Sure you can take any car for a trackday and have fun as that was what they were build for but there are other options better suited for swapping engines to make it go faster so you can beat your buddies on the ring instead of a magnificantly restored M3!

Thats like Xworks taking his M3 to go Rallying! Not what i call enjoying and cherishing a classic.

It's one thing taking the car on the track and thrashing it... but ripping the engine out and sticking mods in etc. is just sacrilege. :-x
