Waste of money for an E30.
You could get it to reset the service lights, but a short length of wire does the job without the hefty price tag.

So do I take it you cant get any fault codes out of an m20.

You CAN get fault codes out of a Motronic 1.3 ECU (so any M20 from sept 1987 onwards), but it's very limited information and certainly not worth paying $150 to find out.

US cars used the Check Engine light to display the following codes during the Stomp Test:
