Hey all
I am sure i am not the only one to have this slight problem but my car mats especially drivers side tends to move down towards the pedals eventually as the holes in the carpet are a bit worn and the screws holding the mats tend to come loose. The mats are ok just worn carpet.
I was thinking of getting a few squares of 5x5cm Velcro and sewing some onto the back of my mats and hand sewing the other half of the velcro to the carpets where my carpet holes are to assist with holding the damn things in place. Im 6ft 4" tall so not sure if its just me or its a common problem.
What other options are available or what have you guys done to cure this? Suggestions welcome.
Carpet is anthracite in colour and i have black mats.
Cheers
Leigh

you could use some strong self adhesive pads (number plate ones or similar) then stick Velcro to carpet and mats, or use strong glue. Alternatively what about some anti slip matting between the mat and carpet?

Yes the mats are ok but the carpet holes that the screws go into are a bit worn, Probably over used. I think i remember youdiable wrote:Are they original BMW mats as if they are the holes should have a metal edging to them if that has gone then they will move around.
I have met you at Gaydon and for some reason I just see you with a needle and thread trying to stitch some velcro to the back of a mat
If no other option is available i think its hook side of velcro on the mats and try to strengthen the carpet holes up, Possibly pour some flexi glue in the hole and re form the holes in the same place if you know what i mean.

Couldn't you just refit the mat fixing screws into the carpet slightly further forwards, or get underneath the carpet, and fix them in their original holes somehow?

Thanks guys
I think repair holes as Brian suggested and add velcro as added grip, Also will look down the anti slip matting too if its required.

Used the carpet screws just once and never will again as i now have 2 nice holes in my pristine carpet! On top of that all 3 NLA floormats i got my hands on during ownership had the holes in different locations. Spray-gluing Velcro on key sections on the underside of the mat did the trick as my carpet is velours! Don't take the mat out to often though as it pulls haires of the carpet!
To give you an idea where i put ALOT of velcro

Personly never had issues or problems with the genuine locking screws, and if put in a deep pile carpet they dont leave big holes if removed

I did! Within a week the screws were torn out of the carpet with the holes now visible up close. Now i have to admit that my feet and thus shoes are big enough to row and steer an oiltanker but thankfully the mats are now solid enough for a horserace

My new 4th set just arrived which i found on http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s ... e30/k0c223
One of those rare NLA NOS sets you don't see to often but used to hang at the dealer showroom in the accessorie department
The weight & quality are double the old set it replaces (same as pic above).

Beside the screws on driverside only, the moving issue has also been thought off it seems as its a thick double sided carpet with anti-slip mat
