I have wondered ever since buying my car new in 86 (325i Cab) what the space in the bottom LH corner & the space between the adjustable grips, of tool kit was for. I'd assumed it was for anti-theft wheel nut socket & wasn't needed on my car as it has a key to unlock the anti-theft nuts it came with.

Thought my wonderings were finally answered when I saw this ad on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-TOOL- ... 1478696916

You can see the seller is saying the tools occupying these spaces are for electric roof & windows.......however on reading my Manual, it only shows the Allen key as the tool needed & no mention of the plastic device.

My car's a Cab so sun roof N/A & there aren't any sealing caps in door panels for Allen key operation.
Is the seller correct, were these for older models & have BMW simply stuck with the one tool kit holder & just omitted the tools?
I'd love to get to the bottom of this as it's annoyed me for years.
Cheers

When I picked up some wheels, I was talking to the seller, and he said that that's for a white plastic thing, like the eBay add, that's used for manually raising failed electric windows.

I think mine is occupied by the locking wheel nut though.

That's lovely, I hate mine being incomplete, "as it were", it's as it was when I collected the car though 28 yrs ago, but still bugs me.
I also notice there is something above the spark plug socket... what is that? I don't have that also.
Thanks & cheers

A better view of the recess both above & below the spark plug socket position, does anyone know what this was for?

Has anyone got these three pieces they may wish to sell? I'd like mine to be complete even though they're not needed for my car.
Cheers

I don't think the tool kit would have been incomplete without one as there would be just as many of the plastic bits hanging around as, say, the screwdriver..... In fact as the screwdriver is actually useful, perhaps more of the plastic bits would have remained put. I reckon it was unnecessary in the toolkit and rather than wasting money redeveloping a new toolkit holder, they just left the part out.
