Is it still possible to get genuine original uncut keys, ideally the one with the light.
My wife has just lost ours in a field walking the dog. Gutted, was with original dealer key fob too.
Luckily I had a spare cut as it only came with the one key.

You order that key from BMW cut direct from Germany.

I bought 3 in the USA for $15 on eBay - genuine. That was a long time ago.
Some places are funny about cutting them tho. But yeh - get them cut at the Mom & Pop joints.

Awesome, thanks. And I just found out last week that Cotswold BMW are not far from where I work. So ideal lunchtime visit.diable wrote:http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... =blank+key
About £20 for the blank with the torch.

I would be careful getting the key cut from a local key cutter.
I bought a blank key and couple of places refused to cut it and the one place i did find bodged it - the keys work in the ignition but not in the doors.
I would just get it from dealers to be on the safe side.

I was told that the torch key is NLA by Vines in Redhill.

My concern there would be that probably means your ignition lock is work and could well be turned with a spoon.SilverShadow wrote:I would be careful getting the key cut from a local key cutter.

To the OP, had success finding keys in fields by tying a magnetic tool tray onto a string and dragging it along. (the joys of mountain biking)

Only order from the dealers if you're sure you have the original locks, they'll do it from the chassis number...
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

I've had an offer of help from a couple of local metal detector fanatics - so fingers crossed the original can be recovered.

Result, the original key has been found
I put up a notice at the entrance to the field with my number on it, on the off chance of someone coming across them. I got a call yesterday someone had found the keys whilst walking their dog.
No metal detectors required and I didn't have to shell out to get a new one cut.
